Jeremiah was called by God as a young man to warn Judah about its wickedness. Jeremiah is given a message from God to warn them of the coming judgement they would receive because of their disobedience.
"My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water." Jeremiah 2:13
Questions to Ponder...
1. The Jewish people were guilty of forsaking the spring of living water. Why is God referred to living water? Where else in the Bible do we see someone refer to them-self as living water?
2. The Jewish people were also guilty of digging their own broken cisterns. What do you think this is referring to?
3. Have you forsaken God lately and looked to other places to find fulfillment?
Ways to Pray...
Repent of any thing or person that you have loved more than, feared more than or trusted in more than God. Ask Him to quench your thirst like only He can!

e100 Challenge: Day 46- The Suffering Servant- Isaiah 51-53
Today we start a new 5 day reading section of the prophets. We begin with Isaiah who calls the Jewish people to repent of their sins, return to God and be renewed. Isaiah brings hope as he unfolds God's promise of future blessing through their Messiah. This Messiah, Jesus, would suffer for the sins of all people. Such a crazy message! Why would God choose to save the world through a humble, suffering servant rather than a glorious king? This is contrary to man's pride and worldly ways. God often works this way. The Messiah's strength is found in his humility, suffering and mercy.
Isaiah 53:6 "We all like sheep have gone astray, each of us have turned to our own way and the Lord has laid upon him the iniquity of us all."
Questions to Ponder & Consider...
1. How have you gone astray and turned to your own way?
2. What does it mean to you that God laid your guilt and sins upon Jesus?
Ways to Pray...
Ask the Holy Spirit to speak your heart regarding this passage. Repent of your waywardness and run to Jesus today! Seek Him, the Lover of your soul.

e100 Challenge Day 45 -Proverbs of Solomon- Proverbs 16:1-18:24
Todays reading concludes our time in this 5 day section of Psalms and Proverbs. It has been a section of rich treasures hasn't it? Today's reading does not leave us wanting! There are so many "Grade A Choice" morsels of wisdom to chew on! How about this one: "A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity." Wow! How are you at being a loving friend today? Are you sticking closer than a brother? Or how about this one: "The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe." Is your tank on empty? Do you feel powerless? I encourage you to run to the Lord today! It is in His name that you find strength and are safe!
Questions to Consider/Discuss...
1. Who is your friend? Take a moment today to send them a text, email or phone call to encourage them and thank them for their friendship.
2. How can you "run to the name of the Lord" today?
Ways to Pray...
Acknowledge God's ways are higher than your ways today. Submit your goals, ambitions, desires to Him and follow His leading.

E100 Challenge: Day 44 Godly Wisdom- Proverbs 1:1-4:27
Proverbs 1 begins with the purpose for which the book was written: "For attaining wisdom and discipline.." This book that was given to us is a treasure! Not only does the Bible tell us how God reached down to us and saved us, but it also give us instruction on how to succeed in this earthly life! Wisdom is the coordination of knowledge and experience.
Wisdom = knowledge + experience
Questions to Ponder...
1. Prov. 1:7 says "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge" When we fear people more than we fear God, what happens?
2. Prov. 3:5,6 Says to trust with all your heart in who? And to lean not on who's understanding? What is one situation right now that you can do this with?
Ways to Pray...
James 1:5 says that if any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask and it will be given to you. Ask the Lord for wisdom on how to bring glory to Him in your life today.

e100 Challenge Day 43: Praise the Lord- Psalm 103:1-22
Psalm 103 is a great psalm of praise!
Someone once said "Life is 10% reality and 90% attitude." Meaning, 10% of your life is what happens to you and 90% of your life is how you respond to that 10%. Would you agree with this statement? I'm not sure how accurate the percentages are, (or even if it is quantifiable) however i would agree that much of life is how we interpret it. When we read this psalm of praise, the writer David focuses our attention on the goodness of our God. When we believe that God is good, it changes the way we view life. When trials occur, we don't become devastated but we find strength to trust that God is good and will take care of us.
Questions to Consider and Ponders...
1. In verse 2, David calls us to not forget all God's benefits. What benefits do we have from God?
2. Verse 13, says God will have compassion like a father on us if we do something. What are we to do?
3. How has your attitude about life been lately? Do you need to renew your heart and mind?
A Way to Pray...
Praise the Lord for his patience with you and not treating you as your sins deserve. Ask Him to give you a renewed fear of Him in all areas of your life today

E 100 Challenge- Day 42- Have Mercy on Me- Psalm 51:1-19
Psalm 51:1-19 is a response from King David to God after Nathan, God's prophet confronts David with his sin committed against Bathsheba and her husband Uriah as depicted in 2 Samuel 12. As we saw on day 36, David a man after God's own heart certainly wasn't without sin. Here we see in David's prayer a demonstration of godly sorrow that leads to repentance and restoration with the living God.
Questions to Consider:
1. We saw on day 36 David committing adultery with Bathsheba
and murdering her husband Uriah. However, according to what
we read today, who ultimately did David sin against?
2. Often we can be mislead into believing that as believers, we are
not as sinful as those without faith in Jesus. That we might get
angry, or maybe even have lustful thoughts, but these are not as
bad as murder or adultery (see Matt.5:21-30). How did David
see himself before his Holy God?
3. On what basis does David seek forgiveness from God? (vs.1&2)
Why ultimately did David seek God's forgiveness? (vs.13-15)
Prayer: Father, thank you this morning, that we can come to you through the perfect life and the precious blood of Jesus Christ for forgiveness, SO THAT we can sing of your righteousness, declare your praise and teach sinners about your ways......What a wonderful life, what GOOD NEWS!!!!!

e100 Challenge- Day 41- The Lord is my Shepherd Psalm 23:1-6
This Psalm just may be the most popular Psalm and perhaps the most popular passage in all of the Old Testament. Christians have heard it preached, some have memorized it and prayed through it. Unbelievers have heard this Psalm as well, perhaps at some of the funerals they have attended. However, this Psalm is not about death, but about life, rest and peace. Many a Christian has found deep comfort and encouragement from this great passage of Scripture penned by King David.
Questions to Consider:
1. David quickly identifies the LORD as his source of his life,
rest and peace in verse one. There are so many "gods" that
are jockeying for the Yahweh's lordship over our lives. David
placed his confidence in the Almighty. How about you dear
friend, where does your confidence lie this morning?
2. Jesus is called the "Good Shepherd" in John 10:11, the "Great
Shepherd" in Hebrews 13:20 and the "Chief Shepherd" in
1 Peter 5:4. The Bible tells us that Jesus is Lord! What does
David say that the LORD does for him as his shepherd?
(make a list Psalm 23:2-6)
3. Notice that David says, "The Lord is MY shepherd". While
hearing or reading this psalm is a passage of provision,
protection and peace. It can only be experienced IF the
LORD is your shepherd and you are His child (John 1:12).
Have you trusted Jesus as your Lord and Savior?
Pray: If you are a believer, pray a prayer of praise and thanks to your shepherd for all His promises to you in Psalm 23. If you are not a believer and want to be, pray a prayer acknowledging your disobedience toward God and in faith ask Jesus to forgive your sin and come into you and be your LORD, Savior and Shepherd.

e100 challenge-Day 40-The Fall of Jerusalem-@ Kings 25:1-30
In 2 Kings 25:1-30 we see terrible times for the city of Jerusalem. There was the destruction of the temple, the looting of the temple, the death of many Jews and then many more were taken into captivity. Yet God was in all of this; even though He said in Exodus 34 that He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love.....God also said that he would not let the guilty go unpunished! This is because God is zealous (He yearns!) for His people and He will do what it takes to restore His people to right relationship with Him.
Questions to Ponder:
1. As you read of the devastation that took place in Jerusalem, what
emotion does this illicit in you?
2. Take time to read 2 Chronicles 36:16-19. Who ultimately was
behind the fall of Jerusalem? Why did it fall?
3. Like Israel we are like sheep who go astray when we sin against
God. However, rather than receiving the full punishment we
deserve for our rebellion (separation from God). Jesus took the
punishment we deserved so that we could enter the heavenly
Jerusalem that never will be destroyed!! What emotion does
this truth illicit in you this morning?
Pray: Pray through Isaiah 53:4-6 and give thanks to God for Jesus,
who bore in His body (on the cross), our punishment, so that
in one amazing act of love, the guilty are are forgiven
and restored to God. Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound!
