e100 Challenge Day 35 - King David - II Samuel 5:1-7:29

Finally David is recognized as King over Israel in today's passage.  "David became more powerful because the Lord was with Him" (5:10).  Different than Saul before Him, he inquired of the Lord before going to battle (5:19). He valued the presence of God by going to get the Ark (6:2) and demonstrated a heart of worship when it was brought back to Jerusalem (6:12ff.).  God made a covenant with David (7:4-17) and David recognized God's work in establishing the people of Israel (7:18-29).  We see David as God's King for his people Israel.

Discussion Questions...

1. Knowing what you know about David, what made Him such a good king? How was his perspective different than Saul.

2.What lessons can you learn from King David?  How did he see God that would make a difference in our life?

How Should we Pray?

Lord, thank you for being a covenant making and keeping God.  Like David, may we be people of worship with the perspective that you are great and meet our greatest needs.

The Bux-Mont & Telford Campuses of the Penn Valley Church Multi-site Network are participating in the e100 Challenge, a 100-day Bible reading program. True revival comes from prayer and knowing the Word of God. We can only live the life God intended if we know what He says about it. Join us as we read through this plan and grow deeper in our knowledge of God's Word.
