e 100challenge-Day 36- David and Bathsheba- 2 Samuel 11:1-12:25

In today's passage, David, the man after God's own heart had been gaining military victories over many of the armies of the pagan nations that were enemies of Israel.  However, David loses a battle over the sinful desires of his heart.  This failure in His life brought great heartache and pain to him and his family.  Although David stumbles, in this passage, God doesn't waver in His love for David and the people of Israel to whom he was called to rule over!

Questions to Consider:

1. Our sin is so insidious that we can commit sin and go on with our
lives (as if nothing happened) without dealing with it.  However
God loves us too much to allow us to stay in our sin.  Who did
God send to David to reveal his sin?

2. Who did Jesus send to us to reveal our sin (see John 16:6-11)

3. When we sin against God, we are saying, God is not enough, and
we go to something else.  How does God describe David's sin in
     2 Samuel 12:9&10?

4. God never takes our sin lightly, we will often reap what we sow.
Yet God still fulfills His promises to David through a covenant
God made with him in 2 Samuel 7:11-16).  How does the New
Covenant in Jesus' blood bring blessing to the child of God who
struggles with sin as David did? (see 1 Cor. 15:3&4)

Prayer: Read Psalm 37:23&24 and thank God for Jesus Christ,
because even when we stumble, we will not fall, because
the LORD upholds us in Christ and therefore He can
delight in us and use us for His glory!

The Bux-Mont & Telford Campuses of the Penn Valley Church Multi-site Network are participating in the e100 Challenge, a 100-day Bible reading program. True revival comes from prayer and knowing the Word of God. We can only live the life God intended if we know what He says about it. Join us as we read through this plan and grow deeper in our knowledge of God's Word.
