e100 Challenge Day 24- Crossing the Jordan- Joshua 3:1-4:24

Joshua 4:21-24

New International Version (NIV)
21 He said to the Israelites, “In the future when your descendants ask their parents, ‘What do these stones mean?’ 22 tell them, ‘Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground.’ 23 For the Lord your God dried up the Jordan before you until you had crossed over. The Lord your God did to the Jordan what he had done to the Red Sea[a] when he dried it up before us until we had crossed over. 24 He did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the Lord is powerfuland so that you might always fear the Lord your God.

The Israelites were witnesses of a great miracle as they crossed the Jordan river. God had intervened into their every day life and provided a way to the promised land. The jewish people had been waiting 40 years to enter into this land and God starts it out with a miracle of stopping the Jordan river, just like he caused the Red Sea to separate when they first left Egypt! Its almost as if God was reminding them that He is a great and mighty God who is faithful to rescue his people and bring them to a better place like he promises. God then commands his people to set up a monument to remind themselves to tell the story of God's miracle to their children.

Questions to Ponder or Discuss...
1. Why do you think God commanded the Israelites to build those rock monuments?
2. What promise has God given to you that you need to continue to believe that He will fulfill in your life?
3. Name something great that God did in your life that you could share with the next generation that would tell of his love and faithfulness in your life? Is there a way you could build a "rock monument" to remind you to share it with others?

Ways to Pray...
Praise God for the great things He has done in your life this past month. Ask Him to give you faith to believe that He will lead you to the other side of whatever obstacle is in your life right now.
