e 100 challenge-Day 38-Solomon's Temple-1 Kings 8:1-9:9

In our passage today we see the people of Israel engaging in a solemn celebration remembering the covenant promise that God made to King David that his son Solomon would build a temple where the Lord would dwell.

Questions to consider:

1. Solomon was aware that God is so awesome that He can't be
    contained in a temple (8:27, 8:43).  Solomon's understanding of
God's greatness leads him to pray for the people of Israel.  What
    does Solomon pray for?  (see chapter 8 vv. 30, 34, 36, 39, 45, 49,
    50)

2. The temple of God was the glory of Israel, but what is the glory
     (inheritance) of God?

3. In 8:56-61, Solomon finishes his prayer.  How is repentance
toward God and forgiveness from God tied to the glory of God?

Prayer: The law of God was kept in the heart of the temple.  In Christ, the Holy Spirit is living in the heart of the believer...Thank God for His presence in your heart (His Temple) and ask Him to glorify Himself in your life today!

  1. There are so many amazing things in this passage, but what stands out this morning is how boldly and prophetically solomon prays. It is all rooted in God's kingship, authority, and faithfulness. He prayers are so big. God's promises are even bigger, and he keeps them!
