In today’s reading, we see just how weak human faith can be,
but we see the never-ending patience of our loving and faithful God. We see a
man who is reluctant and unsure of his ability to be used by God. Several times
he asks God to prove himself, and each time God comes through. Not only does He
demonstrate His power to Gideon, He shows the Israelites that they are under
His care by delivering them from the Midianites. Throughout Gideon’s doubt, God provided confirmation that He
indeed would be with Gideon. Toward the end of chapter 7, the Lord graciously
provided more confirmation to Gideon. Verse 15 says “As soon as Gideon heard
the telling of the dream and its interpretation, he worshiped.” In light of his earlier fear, he worshiped, showing
his humble submission to God’s plan.
Questions to Consider
Why would God bring Gideon’s army down to 300 men? (Judges
7:2)
Throughout the passage, how did God comfort and reassure
Gideon that this battle was in His hands?
What are ways that God is reassuring you that He fights your
battles?
Ways to Pray
Ask God to show you ways that He is comforting you each day.
Worship Him for providing for you, humbling yourself to His plans.
The Bux-Mont & Telford Campuses of the Penn Valley Church Multi-Site Network are participating in the e100 Challenge, a 100 day Bible reading program. True revival comes from prayer and knowing the Word of God. We can only live the life God intended if we know what he says about it. Join us as we read through this plan and grow deeper in our knowlege of God's Word.
