The Crossing of the Red Sea
(Exodus 13:17-14:31)
The deliverance from the angel of death in yesterday’s passage was awesome, yet God was not done demonstrating His great love and power on behalf of the Israelites. In today’s passage, we see God parting the Red Sea so that the people of Israel could not only leave Egypt, but move closer to the Promise Land that God promised Abraham in Genesis 15. Again, we see not only a demonstration of God’s love for Israel, but His faithfulness to His Word even when they (Israel) are unfaithful to Him.
Questions to Consider
1. When the Egyptians came closing in, the Israelites were
trapped between them and the Red Sea. What was the
response of these Jews who saw the faithfulness and power
demonstrated by God in the plagues and the Passover?
that brought great fear and doubt among the people of Israel?
(Exodus 14:13-14)
3. How does God's instruction to Moses (Exodus 14:15-16) inform
you as you face moments of crisis, uncertainty and fear in your
life?
Prayer:
When the difficulties come in like a flood in our lives, the battle belongs to the Lord. Ask the Lord to help you to stand firm in faith, obey God’s direction in His Word and let Him give you the victory in the battle!
